In the Civitan “Creed,” members are taught to seek opportunities to serve others and they are also instructed to seek others of like minds, and servants' hearts, to join a local club. There are hundreds of local Civitan clubs in Georgia alone for people who are interested in lending a helping hand to a neighbor in need.
Fayette County Civitan Club, Inc. is one such club founded in 1971 by a group of Junior Chamber of Commerce “retirees” - at 35 years of age! Retirement at 35 was not in the picture for these men! They got together and sought other ways to serve the community they loved. Civitan International was the right fit. The Fayette County club was chartered and the rest is history. The Club is still serving our community (48 years later and counting) and invite others of like mind and hearts to join us in a life of “paying it forward”, and leading in our community through building good citizenship.
The Fayette County Civitan, Inc., “service club,” is a member in good standing with the Georgia District of Civitan, Inc., Civitan Georgia District Foundation and Civitan International. Scholarships through the District and International Foundations are made available to qualifying students seeking advancement in their knowledge and careers in the fields of study relating to Civitans primary goals. There are opportunities in our public education system for young people to begin serving others and acquiring leadership knowledge and skills in Junior Civitan Clubs.
The Fayette County Civitan Club meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month from 6:30pm – 8:00pm, excluding holidays, @ Azalea Estates Retirement and Assisted Living facility on GA Hwy 54, two miles east of the Old Courthouse in Fayetteville. Our operating expenses, borne by each member, provide ways for all the money raised in our fund raising events to go toward serving our focus groups and other special community needs.
If you have a “Heart of Service” come to one of our meetings. We want to meet you. Find out more!
